If this is true and programmers won't be writing code anymore, maybe we should be thinking about other activities we can work on in creating applications and systems. There's a lot of room for innovation, improving architecture, lowering cost, providing better testing, and the list goes on. Think of the history of working with iron. After humans got good at making iron weapons, they figured out how to make bronze, and now we use steel. Iron is still around as it's a fundamental element but we're doing much more with it.
