I think of programming like game playing. There are rules, patterns for success and failure, and success feels like a win. I've found AI to be very helpful in filling me in on the rules. I've been programming since the mid 80's. I've combined working as a programmer with teaching throughout my career. I learn a lot from watching others learn. And I love seeing the spark of joy when students "grok". You do need to get your sleep.
